Thirty-two years ago it was a sunny
day, so I decided to go Chukar hunting. I walked over a hill
and saw five men sitting around a table full of rocks. I
went down there and asked them if they had seen any Chukar, noticing
the beautiful rocks on the table. I asked why they had Arizona
turquoise in the middle of the Nevada. They chuckled and pointed
to the hole from which they mined the turquoise.
Unbeknownst
to me, those men were Lee Hand, Ted Johnson, Carl Johnson, Carl
House, and Gus,who were experts in the field of mining turquoise.
That was the beginning of a long term friendship, where they took
me under their wing and taught me how to mine. They gave me my
first mine which I still own to this day, Troy Springs. I have
fallen in love with the Turquoise from Nevada. As you will
notice in the pictures below, the landscape is barren, arid and
hostile with temperatures ranging from zero to 102 degrees Fahrenheit.
Nevada has been called a wasteland, but to a rock hound like myself,
it is paradise.
I dedicated this web site to Lee Hand, Ted Johnson,
Carl Johnson, Carl House, Dowel Ward and of course Gus.
